Covid-19 Update: Re-opening of our Residential Program

March 1, 2021

Dear Community Partners,

It is such a privilege to be able to connect with each other in our respective areas of expertise and lend support and resources to our collective organizations.

Last March, when COVID was a word we were not familiar with, we had no idea that we would still be trying to manage in a COVID world a year later. I am sure your agency/organization, like Michael House, didn’t really know how best to respond, manage or deal with a pandemic. We sure have had to pivot, grow and adapt a lot these past 12 months!

Last March, we closed our Residential Program for what we hoped would only be 2-3 weeks until COVID-19 was behind us. Sounds a bit naïve to even voice that comment now but that was how we felt and believed about the timeline for this new intruder in our world. Well, it is now almost a year since we closed the doors to our Residential Program in our Community. The Residential program provides shelter, support, life-skills and parenting programming and resources to pregnant women and those with small infants. We sure have missed having the program open and available to those in need.

It is with great delight that I share our reopening plans for the Michael House Residential Program with you. After much thought, planning and trying to peer into the future to assess the need, we have decided to reopen our doors in April 2021!

We thank you for your patience and we look forward to partnering with you again as we reach out a helping hand into our community for those young women and families that need this type of support.

If you have any questions or, have a young family that may need this type of support, please do not hesitate to reach out. I can be reached via email to [email protected] or at the office at 519-766-7675.

With anticipation of getting our Community back into a more normal type of living, we thank you!

Covid-19 Update
December 1, 2020

What a year this has been, for all of us. One thing that we have all learned, has been the art of flexibility. With the pandemic arriving in March, it meant temporarily closing our Residential and Drop-in Programs. We were working from home for a time, and have since returned to the office while adhering to Public Health protocols. I am most grateful for our team here, working together to ensure the health and safety for everyone, as well as continuing to provide wonderful support for our families through our Supportive Housing and Aftercare Programs. As COVID continues on, we look towards 2021 with hope for things to return to a bit more normalcy. We look forward to reopening the Residential Program in 2021 and will keep everyone posted as plans unfold.

Our office is open during our regular business hours from 9:00 to 4:00, Monday to Friday.

Many thanks to so many who have donated, supported and encouraged us this year.
