Student Placement Opportunities

Are you interested in completing your placement with Michael House?

Although most people think of working with the mothers and babies, there are many other opportunities that help to keep Michael House running smoothly every day.

Michael House relies on the generous time of volunteers and placement students to continue running every day. We have numerous student positions available for students interested in working with us.

Please complete an online student application if you are interested in any of these positions! Client focused placement students must be available during the evening and on occasional weekends.

Mission Statement & Guiding Principles

Volunteers and Students shall be expected to be familiar with and respect the Guiding Principles and Mission Statement upon which MHPCC is built.

Our Vision: Empower resilient women to overcome barriers for the betterment of themselves and their children.

Our Mission: To provide shelter and support to pregnant and parenting women and their children in need.

Guiding Principles:

  1. We believe that from fertilisation to natural death, each human being is unique and precious and has a fundamental right to life.
  2. We believe that, in providing an accepting and supporting environment, we will help young women make life-affirming decisions for themselves and their children.
  3. We believe in promoting sexual abstinence outside marriage.
  4. We believe in showing the love of Jesus through service to all, regardless of sex, religion, culture, national origin or personality.
  5. We believe in being inclusive of the father and extended family, whenever the situation allows, benefiting the young mother and her child.
  6. We believe in involving the community to provide acceptance and support to all families.

Michael House, in fulfilling its Mission Statement, always supports women who have chosen childbirth. The services are built upon the belief that life begins at conception.

Required Availability

Michael House is a residential program requiring our clients to participate in daily programming. Programs for our clients include daytime off site groups and schooling. Due to the nature of this, we require placement students to be available during the evening and occasional weekends. This policy ensures that placement students are scheduled when our clients are home. Students are required to work at least one evening shift a week - shifts usually end at 9pm.
