Hosting your own event – A fun way to help Michael House
Choose a fundraising idea that appeals to you and your own interests. You can involve your family, friends, classmates, church group or community. Not sure where to start? Click here to read our guidelines for third-party events.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Birthday Parties
Host a birthday party and ask your guests to make a donation instead of a gift. During the party you can explain to them that Michael House helps young women overcome difficulties and learn how to effectively parent their children.
Dress-Down Day
Ask co-workers or classmates to make a donation to Michael House on a specific day in exchange for the privilege of dressing down. People love the chance to be casual and appreciate that their donations are going to help women and children in need.
Pancake Breakfast or Spaghetti Supper
Combine food with fun while raising funds to benefit the work at Michael House. Perfect for a youth group or high school class!
Garage Sale
Hold one on your own or talk to your neighbours to organize an all-street garage sale. You can even do this at your children’s school or your church to raise money for Michael House.
Silent Auction
You can talk to the parents at your children’s school, people in your church or members of your community. Invite local businesses to donate items to your auction and publicize it.
Run, Walk or Bowl-a-thon
Run, walk or bowl with a group of friends or your entire community. Involve the whole family! All you need to do is to fill out some pledge forms, collect support, gather participants and let the fun begin!
