National Volunteer Week was at the beginning of April and Michael House has many volunteers to celebrate! The Guelph Mercury published a great insert in their newspaper in collaboration with the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington. Inside, we highlight and thank three extraordinary volunteers! To read about what Sylvie, Merle, and Barbara have done for Michael House, see the bottom of page 6 in the booklet: National Volunteer Week. We are blessed to have them, and all of our generous volunteers!
We are excited to be the recipient of $11,900 from 100 Women Who Care Guelph! This is a group of women in Guelph who care deeply about our community and are passionate about contributing to its health and vitality. Each quarter, each of its 119 members meet and donate $100 to a local charity voted on by the members. After tying for first, we won in the second round, and are so grateful for this gift. These funds will be very helpful in building our Home for Generations.
Michael House has won the 2014 Donner Canadian Foundation Awards for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Services in the Counselling / Crisis Intervention Category! This is a nationally recognized award for excellence in management and governance, use of staff and volunteers, innovation, program costs, and outcome monitoring. The 2014 Spring Fashion Show was a great success. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
