Earlier this summer, the Wellington Catholic District School Board presented Michael House with a cheque for $102,837 in support of our capital campaign, A Home for Generations. This funding comes from the sale of the Amazing Home Makeover house which sold this past April.

The presentation of the cheque marks the culmination of a 10-month home renovation project executed by high school students at Wellington Catholic. Working alongside skilled trade professionals, students fully gutted, renovated, and staged the home located at 70 Talbot Street in Guelph all while gaining hands on experience and supporting Michael House.

“It’s a wonderful thing to witness,” said Marino Gazzola, Chair of the Wellington Catholic District School Board. “Students learning and working for the shared benefits of the community is exactly the kind of socially conscious citizen we strive to foster at Wellington Catholic. We couldn’t be more proud of the great work the students have done. This partnership with Michael House is a great example of how our staff and students are working to build an inclusive and caring community.”

The cheque was presented by Technology Department head at WCDSB, Brian Andres, who oversaw and led the Amazing Home Makeover project. “We owe huge recognition to our partners,” said Andres. “To be able to provide this experience to our students while supporting Michael House is such a gift and wouldn’t have been possible without Tambro Construction and all of our generous partners.”

The Michael House family is exceedingly grateful to all those who made this initiative possible!
