Volunteering

The need for volunteers at Michael House is constantly changing. Although most people think of working with the mothers and babies, there are many areas needed to keep the program running smoothly. Of course, our first priority is to make sure the mothers and babies who come to Michael House feel safe and cared for in a home environment.

Currently we are looking for someone to fill the following volunteer positions:

  • Client Support Volunteer
    • This position involves working directly with the mothers residing at Michael House.
  • Yard and Garden Help
  • Board Member
    • We have an opening on our Board of Directors. For more information please email office@michelhouse.ca .
  • Fundraising
    • We have several events each year. If you have fund-raising experience or would like to help out at a specific event, please let us know.

Give of Your Treasures

Wish List

We are always grateful for donations of your new and gently used items. Our needs change as new women enter our program and others prepare to move out of our home and set up homes of their own. Currently our cupboards are gloriously full and we thank our community for thinking of us. However, we are always looking for everyday items, such as unopened packages of diapers, wipes, household cleaners or toiletry items. Also, new items for "baby showers" are exciting to our moms. And of course, donated items for a silent auction or a prize are greatly appreciated and help us to generate much needed funds!

Also changing are some of the baby related products that you may want to donate. Before dusting off those cribs and strollers, please have a look at the latest safety information about passing down or donating second-hand items from Health Canada. (Note: we are unable to take any of these items until after September 1st. Please give us a call after that time!)

Thank you in advance for helping us with our current wish list. Our needs at the house are:

  • Snow blower or someone to help with snow removal in the winter.
  • Tools and assorted hardware items associated with the upkeep of a home

Community Partners - Sponsor Thank you

We would like to extend a warm thank-you to all the local businesses and community groups that donate services, time and money to our house and programs. Without these great players, our mission would be next to impossible!

Donate Now

Money to run our home and programs is always needed. We work to raise money year-round with various events such as our Baby Bottle Drive, Bowl-a-thon, Fashion Show, Golf Tournament and our "Ride for Life" program.

Additionally, we also accept donations on-line through the CanadaHelps.org web site or by cheque through the mail. Tax receipts will be issued for monetary donations over $20 or on request.

Angel Program

This is a monthly donation program. Help us reach our goal of 400 Angels by signing up. It's easy and rewarding. To sign up, call Angela for more information 519 766 7675.
